What is dual ball-bearing technology? Two stainless steel ball-bearings are positioned within the back plate of the wheel, ensuring the wheel glides smooth and silent. The innovative bearings SPIN around the center pin as your pet runs, unlike annoying squeaky wheels on the market that have an axle that the wheel rotates around creating friction and noise. 

Accessories: Pet nails can grow to be long and sharp. Not only can this be painful to owners during handling, it can also cause your pet to frequently get stuck on fabrics, like pouches or clothing. Nail trimming using clippers can be difficult and may even cause injury to your pet if done incorrectly. Sandy Trimmer Tracks provide a soft, abrasive running surface for your pet while using their exercise wheel. Simply install the sandy track in place of the regular track, it takes less than a minute, and your pet’s nails will be naturally filed down as they run (see assembly instructions and video below). Keep the sandy trimmer track in for 1-2 days per week (or monitor when nails are filed). This track is completely safe and will not cause harm or discomfort to your pet. Conveniently hand-washable and reusable to last the lifetime of your pet. Do not submerge sandy trimmer track for long periods of time. It may be necessary to initially trim pet's nails with clippers before using a sandy trimmer track. Then the track will keep the trimmed nail smooth through frequent use of the sandy track. The AutoClean Track has a perforated design which allows feces, urine, and other pet debris to drain from the wheel, to save time cleaning and increase ventilation within the wheel. The Silent Runner Cage Attachment allows you to attach the wheel directly to any wire cage to free up floor space, or mount at different heights. All accessories sold separately.

Cleaning: See video below. Wipe down the wheel with a non-toxic disinfectant wipe daily if you wish. Wash thoroughly at least once per week by disassembling the wheel and cleaning with warm soapy water, rinsing, and allowing to air dry completely. Wheel is also dishwasher safe, top rack only. Do not submerge the back plate where the metal bearings are held, it is recommended to simply wipe the plate down without letting water come in contact with the bearings. Note: As of October 2017, all Silent Runner Wheels are made with new sealed / encased ball-bearings that can not get wet and therefore do not need to be oiled. Previous to October 2017, owners needed to dry and oil the bearings thoroughly, as inadequate drying may lead to the bearings becoming corroded, seizing and not able to spin, and then causing the wheel to unscrew from the stand or cage attachment when the pet was running in the wheel. This is no longer an issue.

Assembly Instructions: Remove the standard running track on your Silent Runner wheel. It is easiest to place wheel face-up on a table, insert hand into wheel to hold back plate down, and pull front plate up. Once disassembled, begin by inserting the corner of the Sandy Track into the molded edges of the black back plate for the Silent Runner Wheel. Once the corner edge is pushed in, begin working the sandy track all the way around the wheel into the groove. Once completely in the groove, push the clear connector into place connecting both ends of the track. Set the front plate on the sandy track, and starting with the side away from the connector, work one small section of the sandy track into the front plate groove. Once a small section of the track is in the groove, apply pressure (squeeze down) all the way around the wheel until the track is in place. You may need to push the last section near the clear connector in with your fingers. Set the wheel down on a table and apply pressure all the way around the wheel to secure the track in place.
